Blue Morpho’s Wish Shawl Knitting Pattern
Blue Morpho’s Wish is a top down, triangle shaped shawl inspired by the Blue Morpho butterfly, particularly the female. It’s an adjustable shawl using between 600 and 800 yards (550-730m) of fingering weight yarn. Shown in Madelinetosh Twist Light in Night In Chile, Whiskey Barrel and Deep. Miyuki 6/0 seed beads in Silver Lined Blue Zircon accentuate the colors in the yarn perfectly.
Beads are optional and, as charted, the shawl uses 851 beads in one color.
The sample piece measures a whopping 70” x 30” (177 x 76cm) and uses approximately 700 yards (640m) of fingering weight yarn.
Gauge is not critical, but will affect the final dimensions and the amount of yarn used. It’s measured AFTER blocking in garter stitch.
For intermediate to advanced knitters. Stitches used include garter stitch, stockinette and reverse stockinette, basic increases and decreases, twisted stitches, yarn over increases, gathered stitches and beaded stitches.
Currently, the pattern is only available in English.
